EPA Pesticide Program Updates: November 26, 2001Pesticide Program Update from EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs, November 26, 2001 IN THIS UPDATE:
Diazinon Cancellation Order PublishedEPA has published a cancellation order for registrations for all indoor uses, certain agricultural uses, and certain outdoor non-agricultural uses for end-use diazinon products belonging to certain registrants. This order follows up on the September 13 publication in the Federal Register of the Notice of Receipt of Cancellation Requests and Amendments and is effective November 15, 2001.Retail sale of existing stocks of products labeled for indoor uses listed in this notice, except mushroom houses, will not be lawful after December 31, 2002; registrants may no longer sell such products as of November 15, 2001. Registrants may sell existing stocks labeled for canceled agricultural uses or outdoor non-agricultural uses until 1 year after the effective date of the final cancellation order; retail sales of these products may continue. Purchasers may continue to use the canceled products in accordance with existing labels. An earlier request for cancellation of diazinon technical products was published on January 10, 2001, and the cancellation order terminating those registrations became effective when it was published in the Federal Register on May 2, 2001. EPA also has published notices of voluntary cancellation for end use products of other registrants (May 30 and August 1), with cancellation orders published July 19 and September 20, respectively. EPA received a request from one registrant, Prentiss Incorporated, revoking its voluntary cancellation requests for two products: Prentox Liquid Household Spray and Prentox Diazinon 4E. Therefore, these products are not included in this cancellation order. The Federal Register notice, published November 15, 2001, is available on EPA's Web site. Information on the December agreement between EPA and the registrants is available on the EPA Web site.
