Committee to Advise on Reassessment and Transition to MeetThe U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Committee to Advise on Reassessment and Transition (CARAT) will hold a public meeting on February 27 and 28, 2002. This meeting will focus on tolerance reassessment for pesticides as required by the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 and strategic approaches for pest management planning. During the meeting, the CARAT Work Group on Cumulative Risk Assessment Public Participation Process for the Organophosphate Pesticides will report on its work. An agenda will be posted on EPA's web site by February 25th.The meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2002, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Thursday, February 28, 2002, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Hilton Crystal City, 2399 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA 22202 (703) 418-6800. EPA Launches Interactive Cockroach Activity BookThe popular pest prevention activity book for children, Help! It's a Roach!, is now online. The activities have been converted to be interactive, to provide a fun way to learn about managing indoor insect pests. The messages of removing food, water, and shelter apply to many pests, not just cockroaches. A Spanish version of the web publication will be available soon.
