Utah State University, Department of Biology, Seeks Plant Disease Diagnostician (Application review date: July 14, 2007)

PLANT DISEASE DIAGNOSTICIAN, Logan, UT, USA

The Department of Biology at Utah State University is seeking applicants for a full-time Plant Disease Diagnostician housed in the Utah Plant Pest Diagnostic Laboratory (UPPDL).  Minimum qualifications: B.S. in Plant Pathology, Biology, or a related science background with 1-2 years experience in plant disease diagnostic procedures. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of written/publication skills. Preferred qualifications: M.S. in Plant Pathology and knowledge of diagnostic procedures and literature, microscopy, culturing techniques of bacteria and fungi, molecular skills using DNA and RNA purification and PCR skills for microbial identification and knowledge of serological techniques used in the identification of viral pathogens is desirable. Knowledge of symptomology associated with plant nutritional deficiencies is desirable.
